What To Expect From A Forest Therapy Session

During a Forest Therapy Session, you can expect a slow sensory focused immersion in nature. A Certified Forest Therapy Practitioner will guide you through sensory invitations as you slowly experience Nature and The Forest. Through guided walks, moments of meditation and nature inspired activities, Forest Therapy will soothe your Body, Mind, and Soul.

Forest Therapy is not an exercise hike or a naturalist walk, there is no fitness goal or lectures on plant and tree identification. Forest Therapy is not Clinical Psychotherapy. Forest Therapy follows the mantra; "The guide opens the door, and the forest is the therapist."

How To Prepare for a Forest Therapy Session

Dress in Layers:  (Mother Nature can be unpredictable). Wear comfortable clothing and comfortable walking shoes.

Bring Ground Protection: A small sit mat, like a yoga mat, to protect you from the damp ground.

What Happens to Your Body

(Backed by research from institutions like the UBC Faculty of Forestry)

Nervous System Reset: Your body deactivates the Fight or Flight response and activates the Rest and Digest response.

Immune System Boost:  Trees emit organic compounds called phytoncides. Inhaling these naturally increases your body's count of disease fighting natural killer (NK) white blood cells. These natural killer (NK) white blood cells actively target viral infections and tumor cells, and studies show their heightened activity can last for up to 30 days after a session.

Lowers blood pressure

Stabilizes heart rate

Suppressed inflammation: Exposure to forest air and natural sounds has been shown to reduce inflammatory cytokines in the bloodstream.

- Opening Circle: Engaging your Senses through gentle meditation.

- Forest Bath: Immersing your Senses as we explore the forest and nature with our senses engaged. A slow and mindful walk where you will connect with the forest through your sight, hearing, touch, and smell.
