A Turning Point: My Journey to Healing

My husband and I met when we were 16 and knew that we were destined to travel this life together. After we completed high school, I went to college, my husband worked and then we were blessed with the addition of two amazing children. We were always an active family and spent our time together exploring and enjoying the outdoors. Then, the unexpected happened, at the age of 26, I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis.

By the age of 30, my neurologist was preparing my wheelchair. She scheduled a fitting appointment that was three months in the future. I asked for six months, she said no. So, as I was leaving the office, I rescheduled the appointment with the receptionist to allow me the six months I had wanted. Within those six months, I paused, reassessed, and remembered!

Remembering Nature's Medicine

I remembered my roots, about the natural intervention of natural/clean food and time spent outside. Breathing the healing fresh air, following the gentle movements of the swaying grass, standing strong and stalwart beside a tree, listening to the birds singing their calming songs. Have you ever sat back and just watched a colony of ants at work? I remembered that nature is medicine, for the mind, body, and soul!

My Neurologist was Shocked

Well, six months later, my neurologist was shocked! She couldn't believe what she was seeing. Her words were, "Kari, you look like a healthy and strong young lady! I would never know that you had MS!" Then, she followed with, "Keep doing what you are doing!" She was not one to push the MS medications, and that was never a hot topic of discussion between us. I knew, for a fact, that Mother Nature was healing me!

"Nature is not a place to visit. It is home."
